Welcome
Beechworth Kindergarten is located in the beautiful parks and gardens of the La Trobe University Campus on Albert Road. Combined Kinder sessions are available on each weekday during school terms. Subject to availability of places - 4 year olds attend their funded sessions from 9am to 2pm on any two days of their choice and 3 year olds attend one session per week from 9am to Noon on any day of their choice. Our warm and caring staff welcomes your enquiries and enrolments.
Beechworth Kindergarten Philosophy
- to respect, value and accept each child as an individual having unique abilities, interests and needs
- to provide a caring and nurturing environment
- to create an early childhood curriculum that reflects the child’s whole context, social, emotional, physical and cultural aspects
- to design a learning environment that is aesthetically pleasing, challenging, inspirational, intellectually engaging and full of wonder and imagination, responsive and lots of fun
- to include children as active participants in the curriculum planning process, challenging them to think and feel whilst encouraging their involvement
- to support and respect families, communities and the wider world by including appropriate learning of different cultures in the early childhood curriculum
- to collaborate with families and staff to identify individual children’s needs and interests, then integrating them into the curriculum plan
Play based education
- Kindergarten provides and educationally based program tailored to individual children and the group.
- At Kindergarten, children will be encouraged to develop confidence, independence self-worth. They will become more aware of the world around them and have many opportunities to develop warm, caring relationships with other adults, as well as, friendships with other children.
- Activities at kindergarten are based on play, which is the most important way children learn. There will be many opportunities for children to develop intellectual, physical, emotional, language and social skills.
- Kindergarten provides a safe and nurturing environment in which children may develop a strong sense of self.

Your Committee
- Volunteer parents manage most kindergartens in Victoria as part of an incorporated committee
- An incorporated committee of management consists of parents and interest community members who are elected at the Annual General Meeting to manage the legal, financial and employment responsibilities of the kindergarten
- The committee member are volunteers who are prepared to dedicate many hours to ensure the centre operates in the best interests of the children and families within the community
